Frequently asked questions
How does the free trial work?
You have seven days to use everything, starting from the first time you open the app. After that, logging today’s cigarettes and exporting your data stay free; the other tabs, “Resist a craving”, the timer and the analysis need a subscription, monthly or yearly. The trial belongs to the app, not to the App Store: if you subscribe before it ends, the first payment is taken right away, and the app says so under the button.
I’ve subscribed, but the app doesn’t see it
The app reads your subscription from the App Store every time it starts. If it doesn’t find it, open Settings (the gear), tap “See plans” under “Subscription”, then “Restore a purchase”, with the same Apple Account you subscribed with.
What does the analysis send, and how do I turn it off?
The analysis only starts if you accept, from Settings › “AI analysis” › “Read what gets sent” › “Accept and analyse”. Our server receives the times of your cigarettes, the app’s language and a random identifier; the model that writes the analysis gets only a summary, with no times and no identifier. To stop, tap “Withdraw consent”: from then on nothing is sent, and the identifier changes. The details are in the privacy policy.
I’m changing iPhone: how do I bring my data?
Your data lives only on the phone, with no account and no iCloud. Before you change, go to Settings › “Your data”, tap “Export a backup” and keep the file; on the new iPhone use “Restore from a backup”. Your subscription comes back by itself with the same Apple Account. On the same card, “Delete all data” removes everything from the phone except language, theme and subscription.
I need help to quit
Outwait doesn’t replace a doctor, and its analysis isn’t medical advice. In the UK you can call the NHS quit smoking helpline on 0300 123 1044; in Italy the Telefono Verde contro il Fumo on 800 554 088, free; in France Tabac info service on 39 89. In other countries, ask your doctor or your national health service.
Managing or cancelling your subscription
Subscriptions go through the App Store and are managed by Apple. To change plan or cancel, open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, or go to apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions.
If you cancel at least 24 hours before it renews, the subscription stays active until the end of the period you’ve already paid for, and then doesn’t renew.
Refunds are decided by Apple, and you request them at reportaproblem.apple.com: we don’t see payments and can’t refund them ourselves.
